Dish wins new court ruling on Hopper features

US pay-TV provider Dish Network won a court ruling protecting time- and place-shifting features on its Hopper DVR. The US District Court for the Central District of California upheld the rights of consumers under US copyright law to use Slingbox technology and the AutoHop, PrimeTime Anytime and Transfers features of the box. Dish said this was its sixth vistory in federal court for the Hopper, which has been challenged by broadcasters due to its ability to skip ads in programmes.
