Disruptions to RIM BlackBerry services continue to spread
Disruptions to Research In Motion's (RIM) BlackBerry service have continued to spread, leaving millions of customers across four continents without browsing, messaging and e-mail services, Reuters reports. The problems began on Monday 10 October, affecting users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Since then, the problems have spread to Brazil, Chile and Argentina. In an e-mailed update, RIM said that the problems were caused by a core switch failure within its infrastructure.

Consumers in the US and Canada have sued Research in Motion for the service outage on BlackBerry devices earlier this month. Research In Motion said it will offer Blackberry customers over USD 100 of free apps to make up for the three days of disruption to its services last week. Research In Motion (RIM) founder Mile Lazaridis has announced that BlackBerry services are fully restored following a 3-day worldwide outage, reports BBC News.
