DoJ asks for more time to review Softbank, Sprint deal

The US Department of Justice has asked the FCC to delay its decision on Softbank's proposed takeover of Sprint as it's still reviewing the national security implications of the deal. This will give more time for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US to complete its review. Sprint told the Financial Times that the DOJ request was "routine", adding "we continue to anticipate that the transaction will be completed in mid-2013". At the same time Dish, which is bidding against Sprint for control of Clearwire, said it would not oppose the Softbank takeover. Both developments were prompted
