Dominant agent rules barely affect Telcel dominance - study

The asymmetrical regulations first imposed on Mexican operator America Movil back in March 2014 have had little effect on the company's market share, reports El Economista, citing a survey by the Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). Nearly three years after America Movil was declared a dominant player in the telecommunications market, resulting in a series of tougher measures, the company's Telcel unit still had a 70.7 percent share of the country's mobile revenues at the end of 2016, compared to 73.0 percent in Q1 2014. In terms of mobile lines, Telcel's dominance has diminished slightly
