Dominican govt backtracks on Huawei projects

The Dominican Republic has withdrawn from a longstanding agreement with Huawei to upgrade the country's telecommunications networks and strengthen technological cooperation with China, reports local daily El Dia. The country's communications regulator Indotel was tasked with reviewing the wide-ranging project signed several years ago when new president Luis Abinader took office in August, said the report, adding that the government has adopted a more cautious policy toward Chinese investment, resulting in its recent announcement that it will be vetoing Chinese companies from investing in
