Dominican Republic applies conditions to Orange-Tricom merger

Wednesday 27 September 2017 | 10:46 CET | News
The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) announced its approval for Altice's application to merge its Orange Dominicana and Tricom units, subject to conditions. Indotel said the merger would see the authorisations, assets and liabilities of triple-play operator Tricom absorbed by mobile operator Orange, with the anti-trust implications of the merger by absorption requiring Altice to hand back 30MHz of spectrum allocated to Tricom in the 1900MHz band. Other conditions included an order to reduce the price of interconnection fees charged by the entity resulting from the merger.
