Dominican Republic wants ITU help to change telecom act

The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) has announced that it will submit a formal proposal to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for assistance in its effort to amend the country's telecommunications act, which dates back to 1998. "In view of the rapid evolution of the telecommunications market, its growth and the new technologies used in telecommunications networks, a review and update of the legal framework governing telecommunications / ICT services has become urgent and necessary" said Indotel's president Jose del Castillo Savinon in a statement, adding that the
