Dropbox acquires workplace chat platform Zulip
Dropbox has acquired Zulip, makers of a workplace chat platform for desktop and mobile, TechCrunch reports. Still in private beta at the time of the deal, Zulip has developed a suite of apps which allows users to share public and private messages with co-workers. The apps are for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. Zulip confirmed the acquisition in a letter to existing customers.

US cloud storage company Dropbox is planning an international expansion and shift in focus to business customers, COO Dennis Woodside told the Financial Times. Dropbox koopt start-up Droptalk

Dropbox heeft voor een onbekend bedrag de start-up Droptalk overgenomen. Droptalk is een messagingdienst die gebruikers in staat stelt om elkaar op een veilige manier berichten of bestanden te sturen. Ook is het mogelijk content in de cloud op te slaan. Droptalk richt zich hiermee vooral op zakelijke gebruikers. In april nam Dropbox al Loom en Hackpad over. Loom biedt foto- en videomanagementdiensten, Hackpad biedt mogelijkheden van het opslaan en delen van notities, foto's en video's.

Dropbox heeft een lening van 500 miljoen dollar afgesloten om daarmee zijn  infrastructuur te verbeteren. De Financial Times (FT) schrijft dat zakenbank JP Morgan de cloudopslagdienst heeft bijgestaan in zijn zoektocht naar krediet.
