Former Motorola CFO joins Dropbox
Dropbox announced that appointment of Vanessa Wittman as its new CFO from July. Wittman was previously the CFO of Motorola Mobility, until Google sold the phonemaker to Lenovo. Before Motorola, Wittman was CFO of insurance broker Marsh & McLennan and held senior roles at Microsoft and Morgan Stanley. She replaces Sujay Jaswa, who joined Dropbox in 2010.

Dropbox teams up with Adyen to accept payments 

Online file storage service Dropbox selected Adyen to provide international payments services across 12 European countries. Payment options will soon expand to include countries in Latin America and Asia, such as Brazil, Mexico and Japan. Vodafone Group and Dropbox have introduced a new mobile-first service exclusively for Vodafone's customers. The service called Backup+ integrates with the Dropbox cloud storage service and offers new features designed for smartphone users. Backup+ will enable Vodafone customers to sync automatically their contacts as well as save all photos, videos and other files in a Dropbox account. Nieuwe CFO voor Dropbox

Dropbox heeft Vanessa Wittman per 1 juli benoemd als nieuwe CFO. Wittman is afkomstig van Motorola Mobility waar zij de functie van CFO bekleedde totdat het onderdeel door eigenaar Google werd verkocht aan het Chinese Lenovo. Voor Motorola werkte zij bij onder meer Morgan Stanley. Wittman vervangt Sujay Jaswa, die in 2010 bij Dropbox in dienst kwam.

Dropbox opens London office

Cloud storage company Dropbox has opened an office in London, its following new offices in Dublin, Sydney and Tokyo. COO Dennis Woodside told the Guardian that the company has over 300 million users worldwide, with 120 million in EMEA, and the UK is one of its biggest markets. The UK market is growing faster than in the US. There are tens of thousands of UK businesses and close to a quarter of all British internet users already using the service, he said. Dropbox buys CloudOn

Online storage provider Dropbox has acquired the document-sharing company CloudOn. The CloudOn app counts over 9 million users, and the company said more than 90 million documents have been edited, created or shared on CloudOn. As a result of the takeover, CloudOn will no longer accept new users, and the service will be shut down for existing users 15 March. The acquisition gives Dropbox an office in Israel, where CloudOn is based. No financial details of the takeover were disclosed.

Dropbox acquires Loom and Hackpad

Dropbox has acquired both Loom and Hackpad. Existing Loom customers will be able to continue to use the service until 16 May. Users can export their data directly to Dropbox and will receive a follow-up email with additional details and instructions.

Dropbox introduces photo app Carousel, Mailbox for Android

Dropbox announced a new photo app called Carousel as well as the extension of its Mailbox service to Android and Mac. Carousel groups photos and videos from the user's Dropbox account and those on the mobile phone, including automatic back-up of anything taken on the phone. Dropbox announced the promotion of Sujay Jaswa to CFO. Dropbox acquires workplace chat platform Zulip

Dropbox has acquired Zulip, makers of a workplace chat platform for desktop and mobile, TechCrunch reports. Still in private beta at the time of the deal, Zulip has developed a suite of apps which allows users to share public and private messages with co-workers. The apps are for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. Zulip confirmed the acquisition in a letter to existing customers.
