The Dutch 5G auction will start on 29 June, spectrum regulator Agentschap Telecom announced. KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile Netherlands have been admitted to participate, the three providers announced.
The auction of 700 MHz, 1400 MHz and 2100 MHz band frequencies is expected to support the growing demand for mobile data services and launch of 5G services, the agency said. Participants have been informed about how the auction will work, and the new spectrum licences should be issued this summer.
Each bidder will be limited to a maximum 40 percent of the total available frequencies. The auction is designed to ensure at least three providers remain on the Dutch market for fast mobile broadband.
