Dutch cable operators appeal analogue resale obligation

Monday 19 August 2013 | 09:27 CET | News
Dutch cable operators UPC and Ziggo have filed a court appeal against the law requiring them to open up their analogue TV services for resale by other providers, Webwereld reports. The smaller cable operator Zeelandnet is supporting the suit, while Tele2 has sided with the government, in the hope of gaining access to the cable TV service. The suit will be heard by a court in The Hague on 28 November. The mandatory wholesale offer is part of reforms to the Telecom and Media Laws which took effect at the start of this year. The law already raised questions from the European Commission in April.
