Dutch cable operators warn of interference from LTE-800

LTE in the 800 MHz band can disrupt TV signals, according to a statement from the Dutch cable operators SKV and CAI Hardewijk. While the technical problem is well-known, it has become a practical issue in the Netherlands since KPN launched LTE services in the 800 MHz band. The mobile and cable operators signed a covenant in 2011 on how to deal with the problem. The cable sector uses frequencies in the 800 and 900 MHz bands for sending TV signals over the coax network, and the spectrum is adjacent to the frequencies used for mobile services.
