Dutch consumers union highlights privacy issues on smart TVs

Monday 29 September 2014 | 15:23 CET | News
The Dutch consumers union has highlighted privacy issues on smart TVs in its latest issue. The article notes that connected TVs from LG Electronics and Panasonic save data on customer searches and prgrammes watched. Sony and Philips also track viewing behaviour, and Philips keeps information on internet traffic, viewing in TV apps, films rented online and which catch-up programmes are watched. Samsung was unclear in its 57 pages of terms and conditions exactly what data it collects. The consumer group is starting an online campaign to make users more aware of the online privacy issues.
