Dutch data retention law is still a work in progress

The new data retention law is in preparation and needs more time, the Ministry of Security and Justice told Parliament. The ministry proposed several measures to protect privacy. The relationship between these measures is now being re-examined. The bill is then expected to soon go to the House of Representatives of the States General. The first version was in consultation with the public until the end of 2014, a length of time which lifted many eyebrows. The government wants to make a clearer distinction between the seriousness of crimes under investigation. Access to data should be checked
