Dutch e-commerce up 11% in Q1, quarter buy over smartphone

Dutch consumer e-commerce was worth EUR 5.55 billion in the first quarter, up 11 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest figures from industry group Thuiswinkel.org. The research by GfK found that the number of transactions also rose 11 percent, to 44.43 million. More mobile purchases is helping drive the growth; these accounted for 11 percent of transactions in Q1, up from 8 percent a year earlier. Around 24 percent of all online shoppers made at least one purchase over a smartphone during the quarter, an increase from 18 percent in the same quarter of 2016.
