Dutch govt behind net neutrality

The Dutch government is behind the Dutch legislation on net neutrality, minister of economic affairs Maxime Verhagen told Parliament. The European Commission is committed to transparency and choice, but Verhagen said he was taking a critical view over those matters. A trend that became marked in 2010 in the Netherlands showed mobile operators allowing the use of OTT applications such as VoIP only within the more expensive subscriptions, in order to protect revenues. Verhagen therefore supports net neutrality, also on the EU level. The minister said he was not in favour of a proposal by the
