Dutch govt blocks Worldmax expansion for security reasons

Dutch operator Worldmax has not been permitted to extend its WiMAX network above the Amsterdam-Zwolle line. The Dutch ministry of economic affairs has changed certain conditions of Wordmax's license in the name of state security. The ministry of defense concluded, after an investigation by TNO, that the WiMAX signal interfereds with the operation of the satellite ground station in Burum, Friesland. The National Signals Intelligence Organisation (NSO) uses the station to listen to satellite communication for security agencies AIVD and MIVD. The Amsterdam area WiMAX network can continue to
