The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has earmarked EUR 1.0 million from its budget to improve Wi-Fi services on trains. Those services have been around for over ten years now. From March 2010, Dutch railways NS, T-Mobile Netherlands and the national government started providing intercity trains with free Wi-Fi on board, with a subsidy of EUR 16 million from the government. Travelers have expressed their appreciation for the improved services, even though they increasingly use 4G.
