Dutch govt proposes law to block unwanted telecom takeovers

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has proposed legislation to prevent unwanted takeovers in the IT and telecom sector. The government wants to be able to intervene if key infrastructure faces the possibility of falling into foreign ownership. The ministry said that telephony networks, data centres and internet infrastructure are key to national security and public order, and there is a growing possibility of politically motivated takeovers. The proposal is to add a chapter to the Telecommunications Law with definitions of important networks, data centres and hosting services. The
