Dutch govt proposes new data retention law

The Dutch government has sent to parliament new legislation on data retention requirements for communication providers. The previous law requiring operators to save customer data for purposes of law enforcement was overturned in March 2015 by a court in The Hague, based on the earlier ruling by the EU Court of Justice. Since then operators have deleted the stored data and stopped saving the information. The Dutch government planned already in 2014 to maintain a form of data retention, even before the local court ruling. However, it has taken time for the legislation to reach parliament, as
