Dutch govt scraps cable resale obligation

The Dutch government has scrapped the legal obligations forcing cable companies to offer their analogue packages for resale. Minister for economic affairs Henk Kamp wrote to Parliament calling for the amendment of the Telecommunications Act and Media Act 2008. The amendments have not curried favour in Europe, with the European Commission on the point of bringing the Netherlands before the European Court of Justice over the matter. On 29 January, the Court of The Hague ruled that the provisions on cable resale are in conflict with European law and therefore not binding. The Dutch government
