Dutch govt to continue development of coronavirus apps despite appathon setback

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has announced that the development of coronavirus (covid-19) tracing apps will continue. The statement was made on 21 April during a press conference on government measures to contain the virus. None of the seven apps tested in the past weekend, at the appathon organised by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) met all the requirements for security, privacy and reliability. Still, the urgency to develop the apps was somewhat eased after the government extended the restrictions on movement and economic activity until at least 20 May.
