Dutch iPhone sellers launch quality mark for refurbished phones

Friday 15 March 2019 | 10:11 CET | News

Three sellers of used iPhones in the Netherlands have launched their own kite mark, to show refurbished phones reach a certain quality standard. The ‘Keurmerk Refurbished' will be used by Forza Refurbished, Leapp and Renewd with a 24-month guarantee on the battery and accessories.

The phones are offered in three categories: as good as new, lightly used and visible usage. The kite mark will be used initially for iPhones only, as these make up around 94 percent of the refurbished market. In time, it may be expanded to iPads, MacBooks and Android devices.

The initiative does not come from Apple and was developed by the sellers on their own. They aim for other sellers to join the programme, and they will be checked by TuV Nederland and EDR Credit Services to ensure they meet standards. The industry group Techniek Nederland, the Consumentenbond and the interior ministry also support the project.
