Dutch law enforcement sees room for improved data retention

Dutch law enforcement officials have called for improvements in the way communications data is collected and retained, according to an evaluation of the data retention law by the justice ministry. Due to the growing number of internet-based services, such as mobile apps, the type and amount of metadata from communications is expanding quickly. The current methods for gathering the information are not sufficient, leading often to old or incomplete data that's not useful to law enforcement authorities, according to the conclusion from the Scientific Research and Documentation Centre of the
