Dutch ministry dismisses MP questions on telecom duopoly

Dutch consumers have a greater choice in the broadband market than KPN and Ziggo, according to a response from the minister of Economic Affairs to questions in parliament. Two members of the PvdA (social democrats) had raised questions following an article in the paper NRC Handelsblad in early November that described the Dutch market as a duopoly of KPN and Ziggo. It claimed that the highest broadband speeds on cable and DSL were only available as part of triple-play packages. The ministry said there are multiple providers on the market, as KPN's networks are open to the competition. The
