Dutch municipality of Moerdijk looks to Glasvezel Buitenaf for rural fibre network

The Dutch municipality of Moerdijk may be able to join fibre optic Glasvezel Buitenaf, part of CIF, to bring fibre to its outlying areas, BN De Stem reported.

In January, it was announced that Roosendaal, Etten-Leur, Moerdijk, Breda and Zundert would work together to bring fibre to their rural areas. The intention was first expressed in 2017, with two anonymous companies saying they would pay for rollout.

According to the regional daily newspaper however, there are currently no fibre providers willing to build the infrastructure. The outlying area of the municipality of Moerdijk is too vast to make investment cost-effective. The local government will therefore look to work with Glasvezel Buitenaf.
