Dutch NFC payments trial starts in Leiden

The consortium Mobiel Betalen Nederland (MBN) will launch on 02 September a pilot of mobile payments in the centre of Leiden. The banks ABN Amro, ING and Rabobank are working with KPN, MasterCard, Atos Worldline and CCV on the project, in which around 1,000 consumers and 150 businesses will participate. Each consumer has received a Samsung Galaxy Express with NFC and a payments app from their bank. They are all customers already of KPN or its brand Hi and have received Sim cards with a built-in Secure Element. The quick payment process allows users to pay by holding their phone up to the POS,
