Dutch Parliament starts legislative process for GDPR

Dutch Minister of Legal Protection Sander Dekker has submitted to Parliament a law for the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation. The aim of the European regulation is to further harmonize the rules on the protection of personal data and the promotion of free movement of data within the European Union. The regulation will go into effect on 25 May 2018. The implementation law will have to go into effect at the same time. The current Dutch data protection law Act (Wbp) will then be withdrawn, though part of it will be included in the new GDPR
