Dutch parliament to vote on scrapping cable resale

The Dutch lower house of parliament will vote 04 November on amendments to the Telecoms Act and Media Act, scrapping a requirement for cable networks to resell their services on a wholesale basis. The requirement was passed in 2011 by parliament and then struck down in court this January, as it violated EU law. The European Commission had already expressed objections, as under EU law, only an independent regulator, and not the government, can impose such a general requirement.
