Dutch party wants govt stance on blocking websites

Dutch Independent Party D66 has asked Parliament to quickly clarify its position on blocking websites, D66 MP Kees Verhoeven told Nu.nl. D66 already asked the government to speak out against blocking websites via providers in December, in a motion supported by Labour Party PvdA, Socialist Party SP, Freedom Party PVV and Green Party GroenLinks. No answer has yet come, due mainly to the Christmas recess. Verhoeven has now asked again, spurred by the latest case pitting Dutch copyrights group Brein against Ziggo and XS4ALL. The court ruled in favour of Brein, that the providers had to block
