Dutch public broadcaster to start paid VoD service

Wednesday 13 November 2013 | 09:49 CET | News
The Dutch public broadcaster will start a trial of paid on-demand services next year. The NPO Plus service will offer additional content, in higher quality and with fewer ads than the existing free catch-up TV service, Uitzending Gemist. Programmes will be available for up to a year to watch again, versus just a couple weeks for much of the content on the current service. The new service will also offer foreign series and films, such as programmes from the BBC, and the latest films from the cinema. The service will start as a trial, with the aim of covering the costs before expanding. Pricing
