Dutch security service flags growing number of cyberattacks

The Dutch security services agency AIVD has seen a growing number of cyberattacks on the country from Russia, China and Iran, director Rob Bertholee told the TV programme EenVandaag. In the second half of 2016, there were hundreds of attacks from these countries on Dutch state institutions and businesses. Russia attempted to gain access to a state institution in order to obtain confidential information. Bertholee said the attacks are a threat to running the government and parliamentary democracy, and business secrets and economic advantages are at risk. The Dutch government earlier announced
