Dutch smartphone penetration increases 25% in 2 years

Smartphone penetration in the Netherlands reached 84 percent in the third quarter, according to the latest TP Basics report. The use of smartphones continues to increase and is up by 25 percent (17 percent points) from 67 percent two years ago. Growth is coming mainly among older people, as 97 percent of 12-19 year-olds already have smartphones. Among 70-79 year-olds, only half (51%) are using smartphones. In the oldest age group, men are more likely to have smartphones than women, at 55 versus 42 percent respectively. Smartphone penetration is also somewhat lower among people with a lower
