Dutch telecom service prices fell by 7.8 percent year-on-year in January, according to figures from the state statistics office CBS. This was slightly less than the 8.3 percent decline in December.

The drop in telecom prices compares to consumer inflation across the country of 1.5 percent in January. Telecom was almost the only sector to show a significant drop and helped reduce the total inflation rate by 0.25 percent points, the CBS said.

Telecom service prices have been falling for some time in the Netherlands. The drop over all of 2017 was 6.9 percent.
