Dutch Telecoms Act amendments kick in

The Dutch Telecommunications Act saw a number of amendments come into effect on 1 January. Most of the changes are part of the Telecom Package put forth by the European Commission. From 1 January, all operators must provide at least one valid subscription that charges calls to the second, without connection fee. The country's major telecoms have complied with the new rule; most MVNOs have not. Telecom companies can no longer shut off consumers from the internet without very specific reasons.
