EC approves Masmovil acquisition of Jazztel assets

Spanish operator MasMovil Ibercom has announced that it has received formal approval from the European Commission of its deal with Orange to acquire fixed broadband assets from Jazztel on favourable terms. The deal was first announced in August and is part of the conditions set by the EU for Orange's takeover of Jazztel. The purchase of 13 of Jazztel's broadband exchanges will allow MasMovil to offer fibre services to around 720,000 households in Spain's largest cities. In addition, MasMovil will be given preferential access to Jazztel's entire xDSL network for four years, renewable once. The
