EC clears Belgian wholesale cable access rules

The European Commission has approved Belgium's plan to open up the main cable networks to competition. The CRC, which unites the telecom regulator and three media regulators, submitted the proposal to the EC on 05 January, including prices for service providers seeking wholesale access on the cable networks. The EC did criticise certain elements of the proposal but cleared the regulations in the end. The decision from 2011 requires Telenet, Voo and Brutele to offer their analogue and digital cable services for resale. The implementation of the regulation was delayed repeatedly by legal
