EC names monitor for Ziggo-UPC deal conditions

The European Commission's competition department has named a Monitoring Trustee to oversee implementation of the conditions imposed on Liberty Global's takeover of Dutch cable operator Ziggo. London-based CompetitionRx will ensure that Liberty sells its film channel Film1 and Ziggo imposes no barriers to new channels in the coming three years. Ziggo and Liberty's Dutch subsidiary UPC must also refrain from any restrictions on OTT content services. Public and commercial channels must be free to develop their own OTT services without any consequences for their carriage on the cable
