EC opens in-depth probe of Finnish MTR proposals

Tuesday 31 March 2015 | 12:06 CET | News
The European Commission said it has opened an in-depth investigation into Finnish telecoms regulator Ficora's proposal for new rules on mobile termination rates (MTRs). If adopted, the new rates in Finland would not be based on costs as would be incurred by an efficient operator, as set out in the EU recommended approach for the calculation of MTRs. They would also be more than 25 percent higher than the EU average MTRs that follow the recommended approach.
