EC proposes allowing free flow of non-personal data in EU

Wednesday 20 September 2017 | 09:20 CET | News
The European Commission has announced its intention to free up flows of non-personal data throughout the EU. In a statement, the EC said its proposed new measures would abolish data localisation requirements and enable the storage and processing of non-personal data across the Union to boost the competitiveness of European businesses and to modernise public services. The commission added that the creation of an effective EU single market for data services would allow the data economy to double its value to EUR 739 billion or 4 percent of GDP in 2020.
