EC set to approve Telenet takeover of Base - report

The European Commission is set to grant Telenet approval to acquire mobile operator Base from KPN after the company pledged to divest assets, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters. Liberty Global's Belgian subsidiary Telenet first announced the takeover in April 2015, and the EC has a deadline of 17 March to decide on the case. The European Commission will brief national competition authorities on the Base case on 21 January and will give the green light shortly after that, the report said. The EC and KPN declined to comment, while Liberty Global said it was in a constructive
