EC starts procedure against NL for analogue cable resale

The European Commission has launched an infraction proceeding against the Dutch Telecommunications law and the Media law. The acts include obligation for providers to open analogue TV packages to resale, from 1 January. The EC said that the generic obligation for the mandatory resale of analogue cable could come into conflict with the principles and goals of the European telecoms package, specifically the Framework Directive and the Access Directive. These two sections of the law bypass the regulator and could limits its ability to impose measures it deems necessary, the Commission said. Opta
