EC to review acquisition of Ziggo by Liberty Global

Tuesday 18 March 2014 | 14:06 CET | News
The European Union's antitrust authority will review Liberty Global's planned EUR 6.9 billion acquisition of Dutch cable operator Ziggo, the Wall Street Journal reported. The European Commission has until 23 April to decide whether to approve the deal or whether it wants to launch a more detailed investigation, a commission spokeswoman said. The acquisition was announced in January. The Dutch competition authority has indicated it will ask to take over from the commission in reviewing the deal, arguing that it mainly affected national interests.
