EC urges faster LTE rollout

Three quarters of EU residents have no access to 4G LTE in their hometown and 4G is virtually unavailable in rural areas, according to the European Commission. At present, three EU member states have no 4G at all (Cyprus, Ireland and Malta) and only German, Estonia and Sweden have what the EC calls "advanced roll-outs". According to EC vice president for the digital agenda Neelie Kroes, "Europeans living in rural areas and those on holiday get treated like second-class citizens".
