Economist warns of dangers of E-Plus, O2 merger

German Economics Professor and Monopolies Commission member Justus Haucap has expressed concern about the merger of German mobile networks E-Plus and O2, reports German business magazine 'Wirtschaftswoche'. He said the merger would result in three players of similar size, with the danger that they will come to a tacit agreement to fix prices. Haucap said that competition in the German mobile market had in the past been driven by the innovative tariff models of smaller players E-Plus and O2.
