Ecta warns of 'adverse consequences' of banning Chinese vendors

The European Competitive Telecommunications Association (Ecta) has issued a statement warning that a ban of Chinese equipment vendors on geopolitical grounds could have "adverse consequences" on the industry in terms of rising costs and 5G network rollout delays. "Ecta denounces any bans of Chinese 5G suppliers for geopolitical reasons and emphasises that such decisions can only be justified on the basis of well-established facts," said the industry body, adding that a reduction in the number of worldwide suppliers from 5 to 3 will also impact performance, constrain innovation potential and
