Egyptian court orders suspension of Uber, Careem licences - report

Thursday 22 March 2018 | 09:08 CET | News
An Egyptian court has ordered the suspension of licences for lift-hailing companies Uber and Careem after taxi drivers filed a lawsuit seeking to shut down their operations in Egypt, Reuters reported, citing judicial sources. The case was taken up in April 2017, said Khalid al-Jamal, a lawyer acting for the taxi drivers. They argued that the ride-hailing services were illegally using private cars as taxis.
