Egyptian MP asks minister to look into taxing Facebook adverts

Egyptian Member of Parliament Badawi al-Nuweishi has asked ICT Minister Yasser El-Kady to set up organised controls for the operation of social networking sites in Egypt, reports the Daily News. Al-Nuweishi said social networks sites are generating billions of dollars in revenue through advertising in the Egyptian market, but they are not subject to a tax system, noting that the state is wasting millions of dollars in taxes every year.
