Eight percent of Dutch households have smart thermostat

Around 8 percent of households or 600,000 homes in the Netherlands have smart thermostats, according to research by Multiscope. The most important reason to buy such a device is the ease and comfort it provides (39%), the survey found. The smart thermostats can be controlled remotely with an app and also help reduce energy consumption. A third of respondents said they bought the thermostat to get a better idea of their usage and spending, while 28 percent said it helps limit energy usage and 27 percent see potential cost savings. Four our of five consumers with smart thermostats are satisfied
