Elisa Finland offers cheaper 5G subscriptions to improve take-up

Finnish operator Elisa said it has begun offering affordable 5G voice and broadband subscriptions to consumer and corporate customers. They provide service at up to 300 Mbps on both 4G and 5G networks and supply more EU roaming data than 4G subscriptions in the corresponding price range. SVP for Personal Business Jan Virkki said there are customers who have bought a 5G device from Elisa but not a 5G subscription.

The Saunalahti Carefree (Huoleton) 5G 300M supplies service at up to 300 Mbps with unlimited data in Finland and 20 GB per month for EU roaming. This subscription costs EUR 31.90 for the first twelve months, rising to EUR 34.90 beyond the first year. There is a set-up fee of EUR 4.90 per month, too.

Saunalahti Carefree 5G 600M provides unlimited domestic internet at up to 600 Mbps and 21 GB monthly for use in the EU. It costs EUR 39.90 per month for the first year, then EUR 44.90/month. There is the same set-up fee.

Saunalahti Carefree 5G 1000M supplies unlimited internet in Finland and 23 GB monthly in the EU at up to 1 Gbps. This costs EUR 49.90 monthly, apparently with no price change after the first year, and the EUR 4.90 set-up fee.

Virkki said Elisa has already sold thousands of 5G subscriptions and that it is constantly expanding the 5G network. These new, cheaper 5G subscriptions lowers the threshold for using the network. Elisa remains the only operator in Finland to sell 5G phones and subscriptions, the company said.
